Turn Rough Notes Into a Useful Document With ISIS

Move from scattered notes to a clear first draft with ISIS while protecting facts, marking missing details, and keeping control of the final version.

The short answer
Give ISIS the source notes, the intended reader, and the document's purpose. Ask for an organized draft that preserves your facts and flags missing information rather than inventing it. Review the content before sharing.
You may already have everything needed for a useful document, just not in order. A few notes, a deadline, and a half-written paragraph can become a letter, checklist, or project outline without starting from a blank page.
The assistant's role is to help structure and express what you mean. It should not quietly supply facts you never provided. Keeping that boundary clear makes the final document easier to trust and edit.
Define what the document is for
Tell ISIS who will read it and what that person needs to understand or do. A short request to a landlord needs different wording from an internal checklist or a proposal to a client. Specify the format and approximate length before asking for a draft.
Use a practical instruction such as: 'Create a short project outline from these notes for a colleague. Include the goal, responsibilities, and open questions. Do not add dates or promises I have not supplied.'
Identify the source material
Provide the relevant text or name the saved note you want used. If several notes have similar titles, identify the correct one before drafting. Do not assume the assistant can access files outside the account or read an attachment whose contents are unavailable.
Remove sensitive details that the draft does not require. If a name, amount, or date is missing, ask for a clearly labeled placeholder. A visible gap is safer than a plausible detail that could be mistaken for a fact.
Review the outline before polishing
Check whether the structure matches your intent. Are the important points present? Is the requested action clear? Have unrelated ideas been mixed into the document? Fix these issues before spending time adjusting tone.
For longer material, request an outline first and approve the sections you need. For a simple letter, a direct draft may be enough. The right process is the smallest one that helps you verify the result.
Check and save a version you recognize
Read every factual statement, especially names, figures, commitments, and deadlines. AI-generated wording can sound confident even when the source material is incomplete. Legal, medical, and other high-stakes documents may need a qualified professional's review.
Give the finished document a descriptive title and confirm it appears in Documents. Keep the original notes until you have checked the saved draft. Saving a document does not mean it has been sent to its intended reader; review it separately before sharing through your chosen channel.
Put it into practice
- Brief: State the reader, purpose, format, and facts the draft must preserve.
- Review: Check structure and mark missing information before polishing.
- Save: Confirm the named document is saved, then review it before sharing.
