How to Give ISIS Voice Instructions That Turn Into Clear Next Steps

Get more useful help from ISIS by naming the page, explaining the desired change, and checking the result without overcomplicating your request.

The short answer

A clear voice request names the item, the action, and any important constraint. Ask ISIS for one concrete change at a time when accuracy matters, then check the saved result before moving to the next task.

Talking to an assistant should feel easier than navigating a stack of menus. But phrases such as 'fix that' or 'change the other one' can leave too much open to interpretation, especially when several items have similar names.

You do not need a special prompting formula or technical vocabulary. A little context helps ISIS distinguish the task you want from a related task you did not ask for. The goal is less repetition, not more elaborate instructions.

Name the destination and the result

Start with the relevant page or item, then describe what should change. For example: 'Open My Notes and find my grocery list.' Once the correct note is identified, ask for the specific addition. This is clearer than referring to an unnamed list from an earlier conversation.

For a new item, provide a recognizable title. If there are two similar records, give another detail such as a date or phrase from the content. Ask ISIS to clarify rather than choosing an ambiguous match.

Separate a suggestion from a saved change

'Suggest a plan for tomorrow' and 'Save this plan' are different requests. Say whether you want ideas, a draft, or an update to an existing record. That distinction is especially useful when you are thinking aloud.

When exploring options, add a boundary: 'Show me a draft first; do not replace my current plan.' When ready, specify the approved change instead of giving a vague instruction to do everything discussed.

Be precise with amounts, dates, and deletion

Include the currency and whether a financial entry represents income or an expense. Use an explicit date when 'next Friday' might be misunderstood. For deleting content, identify the exact item and review any confirmation before proceeding.

Never speak banking passwords, verification codes, or payment credentials into a general conversation. Connecting an eligible bank account requires the provider's own secure consent flow; asking ISIS about banking is not the same as authorizing a financial transaction.

Check the result, not just the reply

A spoken acknowledgment should correspond to a visible saved change. If the requested action is unavailable or fails, ask ISIS to explain the limitation and open the relevant page so you can see what remains to be done.

Put it into practice

  1. Identify: Name the page and the exact item you want to work with.
  2. Specify: Describe the change and any limits, such as drafting without saving.
  3. Confirm: Review the result and resolve ambiguity before continuing.
